RCTC Secures 74-63 Victory Over Luther JV

Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) earned a hard-fought 74-63 win over Luther JV on November 25, 2025, improving their record to 3-4 on the season. The Yellowjackets displayed balanced scoring and strong second-half execution to pull away from a competitive Luther squad.

First Half Battle The opening half was tightly contested, with RCTC holding a slim 34-28 lead at the break. Both teams struggled to find rhythm early, but Carson Brown provided a spark for the Yellowjackets, scoring a bucket inside and knocking down a three-pointer en route to 17 points for the game. Charlie Morning added solid defense and timely shooting, finishing with 15 points and four assists.

Luther JV relied on contributions from Matthew Lingga and Dimitrios Kontorgias to stay close. Lingga's activity on the boards and mid-range scoring helped him tally 10 points and six rebounds, while Kontorgias chipped in 10 points, including six from the free-throw line.

Second Half Surge RCTC asserted control in the second half, outscoring Luther 40-35. The Yellowjackets improved their ball movement and perimeter shooting, highlighted by Sam Hemery's impact off the bench. Hemery knocked down three triples and scored 13 points in just 23 minutes, giving RCTC a much-needed boost.

Defensively, RCTC tightened up, forcing Luther into tough looks from beyond the arc. Luther finished just 4-of-21 (19%) from three-point range, while RCTC connected on 7-of-19 (36.8%). That shooting disparity proved pivotal as the Yellowjackets stretched their lead to double digits late in the game.

Key Stats RCTC shot 43.1% from the field and converted 17-of-25 free throws (68%), compared to Luther's 39.3% overall and 71.4% from the line. The Yellowjackets also won the turnover battle, committing only eight compared to Luther's 16, which translated into extra possessions and scoring opportunities.

On the glass, Luther held a slight edge with 37 rebounds to RCTC's 30, thanks to strong efforts from Marko Dolovac (10 boards) and Lingga. However, RCTC's ability to capitalize on turnovers and hit timely shots offset the rebounding deficit.

Standout Performances

  • Carson Brown (RCTC): 17 points, 6-of-10 shooting, four free throws.
  • Charlie Morning (RCTC): 15 points, five rebounds, four assists.
  • Sam Hemery (RCTC): 13 points, three three-pointers off the bench.
  • Matthew Lingga (Luther JV): 10 points, six rebounds.
