Rochester, MN - The RCTC Men's Basketball teammoved to 5-2 on the season with an 81-62 win over the Norse of Luther College JV. The Jackets got 22 points from Jamison Lien and 18 from Sam Jennings enroute to the win.
Luther came out hot to start the game as they knocked down 5 of their first 6 three-pointers, before the Jackets settled in and took a 39-31 lead into the halftime break. Lien had 15 first half points, while Laden Nerison had 8 and Leroy Barnes had 6. The two team both shot 44% in the first half with Luther going 5-7 from three-point range while the Jackets were 0-6. RCTC was 5-7 from the line in the half while Luther did not attempt a free throw.
In the second half RCTC shot 46% ad oturebounded Luther 21-13 leading 17 more shots and a 41-31 second half advantage. Jennings had 14 second half points, while Lien added 7.
For the game RCTC shot 45% and held Luther to 43%. The Jackets outrebounded Luther 40-24, lead by Nathan Hanson and Lien with 8 each. Charlie Morning and Ridink Meton each had 5 rebounds from off the bench. Joining Lien and Jennings in double-figures were Leroy Barnes and Laden Nerison with 10 points apiece. Morning had 8 points.
The Jackets forced 17 Norse turneovers and had 14 steals. Hanson lead the way with 5 thefts while Lien had 4.
RCTC is back in action December 6th and 7th as they head North to take on Central Lakes and Gogebic as part of the MCAC North/South Crossover series.
