Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets didn't let a little rain and wind get in the way of a convincing 64-0 win over MN - North Vermilion in the MCAC opener for both teams on Thursday night. The Jackets held Vermilion to negative yards on offense and racked up 7 sacks, 3 interceptions, and a pair of fumble recoveries in the win.
RCTC's defense was lead by T'Kyreian Gray with 8 total tackles, but it was 7 sacks by Kenderrius Robertson (2), Ethan Spencer (2), King General Thompson (1), Jonathon Highton (1), and Daniel Graham (1) that really set the tone. Noah Washington, Jakel Davis, and Coaleon Johnson each had interceptions for the Jackets, while Carter Ellis and Mason Edgett each picked up a fumble recovery on the night.
Offensively, Daemon Jones threw a pair of TD passes and was 7-11. Devin Gonzalez, Desmond Washington, and Merrick Woods each also threw for a TD. Marcaveus Washington rushed for 61 yards, and had a pair of receiving TD's for the Jackets. Luke Lavoi had 36 yards on the ground as well for RCTC.
Chase Karpowich had a career night kicking the ball. The freshman from Cocoa, FL hit on all nine (9) of his kicks. He was 2/2 on field goals, including a long of 40 yards, while hammering thrrough all 7 extra points.
RCTC is on a bye week this week, before hosting Central Lakes in RCTC's homecoming game on September 20th.
