Glen Ellyn, IL - The RCTC Yellowjackets kicked off the 2025 season the road at the College of Dupage on Saturday night. The Jackets, ranked #5 in the pre-season poll, took on the Chaparral's who were ranked ranked #1. RCTC held their own early, trailing only 19-8 with a few minutes remaining in the first half, but 10 quick COD points gave them a 29-8 lead at the break and they never looked back. COD cruised to a 60-14 win to start the defense of their national championship.
The Jackets got a big game from freshman receiver Bobby Jackson. Jackson had 5 catches for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Kyron Burroughs picked up a pair of catches for 16 yards, while Jayden Homuth had 1 catch for 27. Desmond Washington had 8 completions on 15 attempts for 101 yards and a pair of TD's at quarterback. Washington also lead the Jacket running attack with 59 yards on 15 carries.
Defensively, Noah Washington and Coaleon Johnson each had 11 tackles to lead RCTC. Noah Courington added 8 tackles, while T'Kyerian Gray had 6 and Jamir Sharpe added 5.
RCTC heads to Cleveland, OH this weekend to take on Nassau Community College for the second year in a row. The Jackets home opener will be on Thursday, September 4th under the lights against Minnesota North-Vermilion.
