RCTC Baseball Wraps Up Spring Trip with Two Wins in Final Three Games

Rochester Community and Technical College baseball closed out its spring trip with a demanding three-game stretch that showcased both the growing pains and potential of the Yellowjackets. RCTC finished the trip with a split over the final three contests, rebounding from a shutout loss to Middlesex College with back-to-back victories over Delaware Technical Community College and Sussex County Community College.

Middlesex College 10, RCTC 0

The final road game of the trip opened with a tough matchup against a powerful Middlesex College lineup, as RCTC struggled to find rhythm offensively in a 10–0 loss. Middlesex struck early and often, scoring in every inning while holding the Yellowjackets to just one hit.

Stanley Bobadilla set the tone with a leadoff home run in the first inning, and Middlesex followed with three more long balls as part of a 13-hit performance. RCTC pitching battled through traffic but could not slow the Blue Colts' momentum. Bo Boettcher took the loss after allowing five runs over 2.2 innings, while Koda Sanders and Uriah Johnson worked in relief.

Offensively, RCTC generated limited opportunities against Middlesex starter John Ryan, who scattered one hit and issued four walks over four scoreless innings. Aiden Yochim recorded the lone hit for the Yellowjackets, and Conner Cullen added a walk and stolen base, but RCTC was unable to push a run across.

RCTC 7, Delaware Technical CC 2

The Yellowjackets responded immediately with one of their most complete performances of the spring trip, earning a 7–2 victory over Delaware Technical Community College. RCTC combined timely hitting, strong pitching, and clean defense to control the game from the second inning on.

After Delaware Tech scored in the first on an RBI triple, RCTC answered with two runs in the second inning. Matt Dollaghan drove in a run on a groundout before Dylan Balazovic delivered an RBI double. The Yellowjackets continued to apply pressure, scoring two more in the third and two in the fourth to build a comfortable lead.

Gussie Maynard and Jerry Fletcher anchored the lineup, combining for five hits and four runs scored. Aiden Yochim had a standout all-around game, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a sacrifice fly, a walk, and earning the win on the mound. Connor Mathison and Dollaghan each added RBIs as RCTC finished with 13 hits.

On the mound, Yochim was steady and efficient, allowing just two earned runs over 6.2 innings while keeping Delaware Tech off balance. Nate Vaughn closed out the final out to secure the victory.

RCTC 14, Sussex County CC 11

RCTC closed the spring trip with a wild, high-scoring 14–11 win over Sussex County Community College, highlighted by an explosive eight-run first inning. The Yellowjackets sent 12 batters to the plate in the opening frame, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to seize early control.

Bo Boettcher delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a two-run single, then later added three more RBIs to finish with five on the day. Connor Mathison drove in three runs, including a bases-clearing double in the first inning, while Aiden Yochim chipped in three RBIs of his own.

Sussex County refused to go away, scoring in four different innings and cutting the deficit to three runs in the sixth. RCTC pitching worked through adversity, with multiple arms called upon in relief. Nate Vaughn slammed the door in the seventh inning, earning the save and preserving the victory.

The Jackets next travel to Iowa to take on Marshalltown CC in a double header on Saturday March 14.
