Yellowjackets sweep final two games of series versus MN West

Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets completed a season sweep of Southern Division foe MN West with wins in both games of their home double-header on Tuesday.  The Jackets won 7-2 in game one, and picked up a 15-4, five inning win in game two.  The two wins gave the Jackets four straight wins over the Jays with a combined scored of 49-12.

Game one got off to a great start as Gabe Sepulveda homered in the first to give the Jackets a 2-0 lead.  After the Bluejays cut the lead to 3-1 in their half of the third, the Jackets answered with 3 in the bottom of the frame to go up 5-1.  Sepulveda and and Zebastian Bolduc each had RBI doubles, while Blake Schilling had a sacrifice fly to account for the three runs.  Yanseph Llanos had an RBI double and then scored on a double steal for the Jackets final 2 runs.  Luke DUdycha earned the win for RCTC going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 5.

Game two was all RCTC they scored 3 in the first and 5 in the second to lead 8-1 after 2.  After scoring 1 in the third the Jackets scored 5 in the fifth to end the game early.  Sepulveda stayed hot going 1-2 with a double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored.  Diego Espada was 2-3 with an RBI, while Blake Schilling was 1-2 with a double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Nelson Franquiz, Cole Hein, and Sean Connolly each picked up a pair of RBI in the game, while Will Pacheco picked up a pair of stolen bases.

Yanseph Llanos earned the win, going 3 innings, allowing only 1 hit and 3 earned runs.  Alec Dietl pitched the 4th and 5th innings, allowing only 2 hits and stiking out a pair of Bluejays.  The Jackets (13-11 overall, 6-2 MCAC South), now take on Riverland in a weekend series.  The two teams will play in Austin on Saturday afternoon, before returning to RCTC for a double header at Mayo Field on Sunday.  First pitch in Austin is at 3:00, while the first pitch at Mayo Field on Sunday will be at 2:00pm
