Yellowjacket baseball get sweep on the road at MN West

Worthington, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets and Bluejays of MN West were scheduled to play home/away double headers this past weekend, but due to weather, the Friday twinbill was postponed.  This left the two teams playing games 1 and 2 of the series in Worthington on Saturday.  The Jackets left little doubt in the two games, winning by scores of 12-2 and 15-4.

Game one featured two big innings for the Jackets as they scored 5 in both the 3rd and 5th innings enroute to the win.  RCTC got on board in the 3rd as Will Pacheco, Zebastian Bolduc and Blake Schilling all laced doubles in the frame.  The fifth featurd a Grand Slam for Gustavo Gonzalez and an RBI single by Izaac Stevens.  For the game Pacheco was 4-5 with an RBI and a run scored to go along with the double.  Gonzalez was 1-3 with the grand slam, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Gabe Sepulveda piked up a pair of hits and 2 RBI, while Schilling added 2 hits and RBI and a run scored.  Drew Simmons went the distance allowing only 6 hits and 2 earned runs while walking two and striking out 9.

In game two, the Jackets picked up right where they left off as they scored 6 runs in the first inning and 7 in the fourth to leave little doubt as to the final result.

Zebastian Bolduc and Carlos Martinez each homered in the first, while Bolduc added another homerun in the fourth.  Gustavo Gonzalez added his second homerun of the day in the fourth as well.  For the game Bolduc was 2-3 with 2 homeruns, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored.Will Pacheco was 1-3 with 2 RBI, while Gonzalez was 1-3 with a homerun, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Martinez was 2-2 with a homerun, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks.  Chris Cartwright was 2-4 with a double, 2 RBI, and a runs scored as well.  Brady Nelson got the start and went 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs while striking out 5.  Alec Dietl pitched a scoreless fifth inning for the Jackets.

The two teams will next play on Tuesday, as the make-up date for the games in the serie that were postponed on Friday.  The Jackets will host the Bluejays at RBC#4 on the RCTC campus.  First pitch is set for 2:00pm.
