Austin, MN - The RCTC baseball team has had a power surge as of late and that surge continued in their 14-5 and 15-8 road sweep of Riverland on Tuesday night. The Jackets had three homeruns and a triple in game one, while adding another two homeruns and three doubles in game two.
In game one the Jackets got home runs from Gustavo Gonzalez, Zebastian Bolduc, and Gabe Sepulveda. Gonzalez went 3-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, whie Bolduc was 1-3 with 3 RBI, and Sepulveda was 2-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Will Pacheco picked up 3 hits in the lead-off spot, while Blake Schilling had a triple and RBI and a run scored. Yanseph Llanos kept his bat running hot with 3 hits in 4 plate appearances including a double and 2 RBI. Luke Dudycha picked up the win for the Jackets.
Game two saw the Jackets jump out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. RCTC's Zebastian Bolduc had 2 RBI in the first, while Yanseph Llanos added a 2 RBI double. The Jackets blew things open in the third putting up 10 runs in the frame. The inning was highlighted by a Gustavo Gonzalez 2 run home run 2 RBI singles by Sepulveda and Bolduc, and a 2 RBI double by Hawkins. Bolduc picked up 3 hits, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored in the game, while Will Pacheco, Sepulveda, and Hawkins each picked up a pair of hits. The Jackets used four pitchers in the game, with Yanseph Llanos picking up the win. Adam Gwirtz, Brock Marinez, and Carlos Ramierez all chipped in on the hill.
RCTC (17-11 overall, 10-2 MCAC South) is back in action Wednesday in a non-conference game versus Anoka-Ramsey (3-11, 1-3 MCAC Central). First pitch is set for 2:00 at Mayo Field in downtown Rochester.
