US Bank Stadium - The #10 ranked RCTC Yellowjacket baseball team kept their season-opening unbeaten streak alive with a double header sweep of Rainy River at US Bank Stadium on Friday.  The Jackets won the opener 5-4, and closed out the day with a 5-3 win in game two.  I combination of timely hitting and solid pitching led to the sweep.

In game one, reigning NJCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week Drew Simmons wen the distance for the win.  Simmons allowed 3 earned runs and 8 hits while stroking out 6 and walking 2 in the complete game win.  He is currently 3-0 in three starts on the year.  Both teams struck early in the game as Rainy River jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, before RCTC answered back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.  Rainy once again took the lead in the 4th with a single tally, before the Jackets scored two in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead.    Both teams went quietly in the 5th and 6th before Rainy River tied it up in the top of the 7th.

In the bottom of the 7th RCTC got back to fundamentals as they got a runner on first base, who promptly stole second.  Drew Yochim laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to get him to third.  Blake Schilling then got the walk-off sacrifice fly to give the Jackets the 5-4 win.

Trenton Dahnert had was 2-4 while Gabe Sepulveda had a big game going 2-4 with 3 RBI and a double.

In game two T Palmer Mickelson earned the win going 4 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs  while striking out 5 and walking 2.  Carlos Ramirez eanred the save going 2 1/3 innings and not allowing a run.

Steven Shallcross was 3-4 with a run scored and Drew Yochim was 2-4.  The Jackets got RBI's from Dahnert, Sepulveda, Devin Knudson, and Izaak Steven (2).

The same two teams are back in action on Saturday as they play their first outdoor games of the year.  RCTC is now 5-0-1 on the season.  First pitch of the double header is scheduled for noon.
