Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets went on the road for the final time this season and came home with two Southern Division wins. With the two wins the Yellowjackets completed a perfect 14-0 run through the MCAC Southern Division to earn the #1 seed and the right to host the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament.
RCTC started their roadtrip with a 3-0 win at Anoka-Ramsey on Friday night. The Jackets downed the Golden Rams 25-11, 25-13, 25-9 for the sweep. RCTC was lead by Carrie Rutledge and her 17 kills. Hayley Dessner added 13 and AnnMarie Jalmasco hammered out 11 kills. The Yellowjackets hit .440 as a team for the match while holding the Golden Rams to 16 kills and a .018 hitting percentage. Kate Bade had 13 digs in the match whule Brekkin McCready had 45 assists.
On Day two of the weekend, the Yellowjackets took on St. Cloud Technical and Community College and earned the 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) win. The sweep was the Yellowjackets 24th 3-0 win on the season. The Yellowjackets have won 4 matches by 3-1 scores and have yet to play a 5 set match. RCTC got 13 kills from Rutledge and 10 from Dessner in the match. Defensively the Jackets really took control as they held SCTCC (who is receiving votes in the latest NJCAA poll) to only 26 kills and a .130 hitting percentage. Kate Bade once again lead the way with 13 digs, while RUtledge added 11. Brekking McCready had 9 digs to go along with 22 assists, and Jessica Storm added 8 digs on the day.
The Jackets are now gearing up for the post-season as they will host the Region XIIIA tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 1-2. The Region Champion will earn an automatic berth into the NJCAA National Championships. The National Tournament will be hosted by Minnesota's Rochester Sports and RCTC from November 14th-16th.
The Yellowjackets will play the first match of the Region Tournament on Friday, November 1st at 6:00pm when they face the winner of Ridgewater and Century College. The Ridgewater and Century match will be played at Century on Tuesday night.
