Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets continued to pull in national awards this week as Sophomore Outside Hitter Carrie Rutledge was named NJCAA DIII National Offensive Player of the Week honors. Rutledge joined fellow Jacket and soccer goalkeeper Fatima Sanchez Hernandez as national player of the week award winners for the week.
Rutledge and her teammates are currently ranked #2 in the NJCAAA DIII Volleyball poll and are 8-0 on the young season. The Jackets have yet to drop a set this year. Through 8 matches Rutledge has 146 kills (6.08 per set), and is hitting astellar .362 from her outside position. She also is averaging 3.33 digs per set and has 14 service aces on the year. She accounts for 6.8 points per set on the season.
Carrie has had 3 matches where she has had 20 or more kills and has been in double figures in all 8 matches played so far. She has a hitting percentage above .260 in all of her matches with a season high .581 comming in the Jackets opener against Hibbing Community College.
Rutledge and her teammates are on the court once again tonight, as they open divisional play at home tonight against Western Tech. The first serve on the RCTC Performance Court is scheduled for 6:30pm
