Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjacket volleyball team capped of a perfect 3-0 week with two wins this weekend. The Jackets started the weekend with a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-15, and 25-10) over Ridgewater, and then followed that with a convincing 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-17) win over #4 ranked MN State - Fergus Falls.
Against Ridgewater, the Jackets offense was clicking on all cylinders as they hit .354 as a team with only 9 hitting errors in the match. Brekkin McCready once again lead the offense with 35 assists on the night. SHe also added 3 kills and a .750 hitting percentage. Carrie Rutledge hit .429 with 15 kills while Hayley Dessner added 9 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Kate Bade lead the way defensively with 14 digs to go along with 6 service aces.
In match two against the #4 ranked Spartans of Fergus Falls it was once again Rutledge and Dessner leading the way offensively, as the duo pounded out 14 and 12 kills respectively. Ann Marie Jalmasco was as efficient as ever hammering 6 kills on 12 attempts with 0 hitting errors (.500). It was the Yellowjacket defense that really stepped up in the match as they held the Spartans to only a .115 hitting percentage and tallied 62 digs in the three sets. Kate Bade once again lead the way with 14 digs. Joining her in double figures were Dessner (14), Rutledge (12), and McCready (10). Jessica Storm added 9 digs as well.
RCTC now concludes their regular season with three straight road matches. The Jackets are in Austin at Riverland this Wednesday, before having the weekend off. The Jackets will then make the trip to Anoka Ramsey and St. Cloud Technical and Community College on October 25th and 26th.
