Rochester, MN - The weekly awards continue to roll in for RCTC volleyball player Hayley Dessner, as the NJCAA announced today that Dessner was named the NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week. Dessner and her Yellowjacket teammates stormed through three MCAC southern division foes sweeping all three matches this past week to go to 25-2 on the season. The sophomore MH/OH became the fourth Yellowjacket (and second volleyball player) to earn NJCAA National Player of the Week Honors this fall. Dessner joins teammate Carrie Rutledge, women's soccer player Fatima Sanchez Hernandez, and football player Justin Lynn as RCTC fall student-athletes to earn the award.
Dessner had a stellar 39 kills in the 9 sets played (4.33 kps), while hitting .367 for the week. She had 18 kills and hit .444 against MN West, followed by a 9 kill .421 performance against Ridgewater, before wrapping up the week with 12 kills and 14 digs against #4 ranked MN State Fergus Falls. Dessner added 34 digs (3.77 dps) on the week as well.
The Jackets hit the road tonight as they travel down I-90 to take on Riverland Community College in Austin, MN. First serve is set for 6:30pm.
