ROCHESTER, MN - The RCTC Yellowjacket volleyball team continued their winning ways on Homecoming weekend, downing Anoka-Ramsey 3-0 on Friday night, before sweeping #6 ranked St Cloud 3-0 in front of a raucous crowd on Saturday.
In the opener, Molly Kleist had a career high 9 kills and hit .500 on the match for the Yellowjackets. The RCTC season leader in kills Carrie Rutledge hammered out 11 kills and Hayley Dessner, in her first match back from injury, pounded out 7 kills. Middle hitter AnnMarie Jalmasco added 6 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Brekkin McCready lead the way with 31 assists and 4 service aces, while Kate Bade had 7 digs in the 25-6, 26-8, 25-7 win. The Yellowjackets hit a combined .468 for the match while holding Anoka-Ramsey to only 7 kills and a -156 hitting percentage.
On Saturday, the Jackets took on highly ranked St. Cloud Community and Technical College in the featured MCAC match of the day. In front of nearly a full house RCTC came away with a hard-fought 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 win over the 6th ranked Cyclones. RCTC got 14 kills from Rutledge and 7 from Dessner as the Jackets hit .253 with 36 kills as a team. McCready again had 31 assists, while RCTC had 7 service aces as a team. The Jackets held the high-powered St. Cloud attack to a .146 hitting percentage and only 29 kills over the three sets.
The Jackets, who are now 6-0 in MCAC Southern Division, play take on Riverland Community College on Wednesday, September 25th at the Sports Center. First serve is set for 6:30pm.
