Rochester, MN - The Rochester Community and Technical College volleyball team stepped out of conference play on Wednesday night hosting the JV squads from Viterbo University and Luther College. The Yellowjackets offense continued to click and they were locked in defensively in rolling to 3-0 sweeps in both matches.
In match one the Jackets downed Viterbo by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-14. RCTC had three players in double figures in kills. Carrie Rutledge (13), Mariah Steinbach (12) and Hailey Bahr (10) lead the way. Rutledge hit .355 for the match while Steinbach hit .400. As a whole the Jackets hit .333 as a team. The Jacket defense was on full display lead by Katlyn Bade's 15 dig performance. RCTC also had 12 total blocks in the 3 sets (7 solos and 10 assists). Brekking McCready added 40 assists and 7 digs for the match.
Match two proved to be a near repet of match one as the Yellowjackets downed Luther in straight sets 25-20, 25-9, 25-15. Once again it was the Jacket defense setting the tone as the racked up 61 digs and 5 blocks for the match. Alexis Dudycha led the way with 16 digs on the night. Joining Dudycha in double figures were Katlyn Bade (13), Carrie Rutledge (10), and Brekkin McCready (10). RCTC had three players with 10 kills each (Rutledge, Mariah Steinbach, and Hailey Bahr). Once again Brekkin McCready set the Jackets to an outstanding (.330) team hitting percentage and had 38 assists. The Jackets racked up 8 ace serves on match with 3 going to Dudycha and 2 to Rutledge.
The Jackets host MN State Fergus Falls on Friday at 6:30 followed by Ridgewater on Saturday at noon.
