RCTC moves to 8-0 in MCAC play

St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones put up a tremendous fight in St. Cloud before falling to the Yellowjackets by a match score of  3-1.  The win moves the Yellowjackets to 16-8 overall and 8-0 in the MCAC.  RCTC wone sets one and two (25-23 and 25-22), before the Cyclones tokk set 3, 20-25.  In the critical fourth set the RCTC offense got on track, rolling to a 25-11 match ending win.

The RCTC offense shook off the sluggish start and ended up hitting a very good .242 on the match.  Carrie Rutledge lead the Jackets with 20 kills on 48 swings (.271), while Mariah Steinbach and Kaelyn Marzolf added 9 and 8 kills respectively. Brekkin McCready once again guided the Yellowjacket offense dishing out 44 assists, while also adding four service aces and 8 digs.

It was the triumvirate of defensive specialists who lead the way on that side of the ball for the Jackets.  Katlyn Bade (17), Alexis Dudycha (14), and Heid Wolf (10) each were in double figures in digs on the night.  At the net, it was Mariah Steinbach with 5 blocks and AnnMarie Jalmasco with 2 for RCTC.

The Jackets ended up winning nearly every team offensive category on the night.  Kills (46-42), hitting percentage (.242-.155), assists (45-28), and services aces (10-6) all went in the Jackets favor.

RCTC is back in action on their HOME COURT this Wednesday at 6:30pm.  Come out and support the Jackets as they begin the final push toward the post-season. 

RCTC hosts Minnesota West at 6:30 at the Sports Center.  It is Dig Pink night on the Performance Court, as the volleyball program will be wearing pink in support of Breast Cancer awareness and research.  Please wear Pink to the match to support the Yellowjackets and the cause!
