Carrie Rutledge named NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week

The NJCAA office has announced that RCTC outside hitter Carrie Rutledge has been named the Division III National Player of the Week thanks to her performance last week.  Rutledege, a freshman outside hitter from Hayfield, MN hit .520 with 4.67 kills per set last week.  

Rutledge and the RCTC Yellowjackets are currently 17-8 overall and 9-0 in the MCAC Southern Division.  RCTC moved up to the 4th spot in the National Rankings last week and hold that spot heading into the last week of the regular season this week.  Rutledge is currently leading the Jackets in kills (352), attempts (903), and is third on the team in digs with 194.

On the national stage Rutledge is currently ranked 5th in kills with 352, 8th in kills per set at 4.19, 9th in points (383.5), and 16th in points per set (4.6).  She is currently hitting .234 for the season and is averaging 2.31 digs per set.

Rutledge is not the only Yellowjacket in the top 10 in national statistical rankings as fellow freshman Brekkin McCready is ranked #1 in the nation in assists per set (11.23), and #3 in total assists (943).  The Yellowjackets, as a team, are ranked #2 in kills per set (12.05), #2 in assists per set (11.63), #6 in points per set (15.9), and #14 in hitting percentage (.218).

The Yellowjackets and Rutledge hope to remain undefeated in league play tonight as they take on Western Tech in the Sports Center.  First serve is scheduled for 6:30pm
