Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets used a fast start in 3 of the 4 sets to pick up a 3-1 win versus Western Technical College on Wednesday night. Other than a small letdown in set two, the Yellowjackets were in control of the match most of the night. After jumping out to and early 7-1 run to start set number one behind the serving of Tara Rogers, the Jackets rolled to a 25-13 win. Western rebounded in set two and held of the Jackets 25-20. Sets three and four were all RCTC as they closed out the match by scores of 25-13 and 25-9.
RCTC was led by three players in double figures in kills. Brooke Wendland (15), Mariah Steinbach (13), and Tara Rogers (12) led the way. Both Rogers and Steinbacjh hit over .300 for the match with Steinbach leading the way hitting .310. Maddie Hintz had 37 assists and Kazling Thompson led the defense with 14 digs.
RCTC is back in action on the road on Friday at Anoka-Ramsey, before returning home for a Homecoming tilt against St. Cloud Tech at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 14th on the Performance Court.
