St. Cloud, MN - Despite 16 kills from Brooke Wendland and 11 kills from Mariah Steinbach, the RCTC women's volleyball team fell in the semi-finals of the Region XIII Tournament tonight in St. Cloud. The Yellowjackets dropped the 3-1 to Ridgewater Community College. Though the match went four sets , set one may have proved be the deciding factor in the match. RCTC and Ridgewater battled into extra points in that first set, before RCC pulled off a 27-25 win. Using that momentum Ridgewater jumped out early and won set two 25-18. The Yellowjackets then rebounded with a convincing 25-18 win in sdt three before RCC closed out the match 25-18 in set four.
Rochester's Wendland had 16 kills and hit .245 while Steinbach posted 11 kills (.333) and 7 blocks. The Jackets were led by Maddie Hintz with 33 assists and Kazlin Thompson chipped in 21 digs. Tara Rogers had 9 kills and 18 digs, and Anna Carney had 8 digs.
