Rochester, MN - If Thursday's game was any indication of the upcoming season for the 2018 Yellowjacket women's soccer team then first year Coach Bryan Weiss may end the year with less hair and what he has being more gray. The Yellowjackets fought tooth and nail only to fall in the 90th minute on a breakaway goal. RCTC, who played the entire game shorthanded (10 players to start and then 9 in the final 27 minutes), kept the score tied at 0-0 thanks in large part to the aggressive goal keeping by sophomore Sarah Baack.
RCTC, though short-handed controlled play for significant portions of the game and had several chances throughout. Sophomore Kallie Keller had three good opportunities, as did first year player Valya Urbach. Other bright spots in the game we provided by first year midfielder Greta Cruz, and FY Forward Micayla Biffert. The two connected on a number of solid passing coobinations throughout the contest.
The Yellowjackets are back in action on Saturday, with a scrimmage against NCAA Division III Saint Mary's University from Winona. RCTC's next regular season contest is at Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday, August 29th at 4:00pm.
