Yellowjackets Place 15 on the podium at the Dragon Open

This past Saturday the RCTC Yellowjackets competed at the Dragon Open in Moorhead, MN.

With a successful day of wrestling the RCTC Yellowjackets put 15 wrestlers on the podium.

Alfred Daniel (157) and Tyrik Sann (149) lead the Jackets with Runner-up honors in their weight classes.

Alfred Daniel competed in the 157 red bracket and is currently ranked #2 in the NJCAA.  Daniel started his day with a pin over Lukas Maughan of MSU-Moorhead in 2:01.  In the semi-finals he won a 4-1 decision over Chirs Leatherman of Mary before falling to Hunter Shelton of South Dakota State in the finals.

Tyrik Sann competed in the 149 white bracket and started his day with a bye.  Sann won a 7-3 decision over Kyle Fowler of Northland before falling to Brandon Ortman of St. Johns in the finals.

Others placing were Parker Huss (125R) 6th, Auston Hall (141R) 3rd, Alex LaPierre (165R) 6th, Jalen Thul (174R) 6th, Shane Siewert UNATTACHED (174R) 3rd, Mason Hawkins (197R) 4th, Luis Pinto (285R) 3rd, Hunter Wardell (157W) 6th, Ryker Vander Woude (174W) 3rd, Elijah Hollins (184W) 3rd, Zach Moon (184W) 6th, Darrell Noble (197W) 4th, Tanner Welsh (285W) 4th.   

"The guys have been wrestling well, and the added numbers in our room have really given our guys the opportunity to progress and get better during the year," said coach Randy Rager.

The team will wrestle next at the Husky Open on December 10th in Saint Cloud, MN. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
