Rochester, MN - In a game delayed by a week, Alyssa Whitson came out ready to play. With 8 points in the first quarter and 22 points on the night Whitson led the Yellowjackets to their 4th straight win. RCTC jumped out early and never looked back in downing St. Cloud Community and Technical College 82-57.
The Yellowjackets had three players land in double figures on the night. In addition to Whitson's 22, Grace Riley added 20 and Olivia Matti had 17. Whitson also led the team in rebounding with 9, while Riley added 8. RCTC's strong performance on the night was keyed by their defense. The Jackets forced 24 turnovers including 16 steals on the night. Mattia and Arianna Owens each had 4 steals. On the flip side the Jackets only turned the ball over 8 times.
The Jackets led 42-30 after the first half and outscored the Cyclones 40-27 in the second half. Both teams shot 40% on the night but the Jackets had 80 field goal attempts to only 47 shots for St Cloud.
The same two teams are back in action on Wednesday, this time on the Cyclones home floor. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
