Willmar, MN - The RCTC women's basketball team improved their chances of making the post-season, and rebounded from a loss against Anoka-Ramsey, by downing Ridgewater on Saturday by the score of 91-70. The win moves RCTC to 3rd place at 6-4 in the MCAC Southern Division. The top four teams in the Division earn a berth into the district tournament.
RCTC used an explosive second period to secure the win. The 31-11 period, paired with an 18-10 opening frame gave RCTC a 49-21 lead at the break. ALyssa Whitson lead the Jackets with 25 points. Ridgewater did outscore the Jackets 49-42 in the second half, but it was to little to late as the Jackets won for the second time against the Warriors. RCTC held the Warriors to 42% shooting on the contest and forced 15 turnovers. The Jackets also held Ridgweater to only 29 rebounds on the game.
RCTC is back on their home court in a critical game for post-season play Wednesday night at 5:30. The Jackets will take on MN State Fergus Falls.
