Rochester, MN - The Rochester Community and Technical College women's basketball team dropped their home opener to Luther College's JV tonight by the final score of 70-55.
RCTC played a solid game with the exception of the third period. The Yellowjackets led the Norse 32-31 at the half, but then went 7 minutes in the third without scoring, falling behind by 16. The Norse built their lead to 22 before RCTC closed the gap to the final score in the fourth. The Yellowjacekts were outrebounded 49-42 on the night and had 22 turnovers.
Leading the Jackets offensively were Grace Riley (13), Aluyssa Whitson (9), and Abby Bauer (9). Bauer also had 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Riley added 4 assists, while Kyleigh Wangen and Alyssa Whitson each added 4 steals on the night. The Jackets outscored the Nrse 26-14 from the free throw line. The Norse turned the tables, outscoring RCTC 20-7 off the bench. Luther also hit on 6 of 22 3-point attempts, while RCTC hit on 1 of 16.
RCTC begins league play at home this weekend, taking on Northland College on Friday night and Itasca on Saturday afternoon.
