Coon Rapids, MN - The RCTC women's basketball team used balanced scoring and outstanding defense to down Vermillion Community College 87-60 in Coon Rapids. The win marks the second time in a week that RCTC defeated VCC, winning 76-48 at Vermillion just last Friday.
The script was similar to last weeks game as RCTC used balanced scoring (5 players in double figures) and a stingy defense (holding VCC to 35% shooting for the contest) in earning the victory. RCTC was lead by Abby Bauer with 19 points. Joining Bauer in double figures were Olivia Haug (18), Grace Riley (15), Nautika Kotero (14), and Michelle Grant (12). Haug lead the way on the boards with 13 rebounds giving her another double-double on the season. The Jackets shot nearly 54% for the game.
Defensively RCTC forced 22 VCC turnovers, including 4 steals by Kyleigh Wangen. RCTC outrebounded VCC 43 - 28 and shot over 50% from 3 point range for the game. THe Yellowjackets are back in action tomorrow (December 16th) against Bismarck State College. Tipoff is at 10:00am
