Rockford, IL - The RCTC women's basketball team's comeback effort fell just short today as the fell in the final game of the NJCAA basketball tournament to Rowan-Gloucester by the score of 81-79. The Yellowjackets finished the season with an outstanding 23-9 record.
RCTC, who struggled from the floor in their consolation semi-final, shot the ball much better today hitting on 40% from the field. The game was tightly contested throughout the first half as Rown took a point lead out of quarter number on and stretched that lead to 3 at the half (39-36). In the third quarter it looked like Rowan was poised to take control of the game as they outscored RCTC by 5 in the frame and took an 8 point lead into the final quarter.
RCTC was not done however, as they played a fantastic fourth quarter, outscoring Rowan by six to win the quarter 23-17. Their rally came up just short as time ran-out on the season. The Yellowjackets got another phenomenal performace from Olivia Haug. Haug hit for 24 points and 16 rebounds to conclude her rookie season. Joining Haug in double figures were Nauitka Kotero (15) and Grace Riley (10).
In a reversal of fortune from Friday nights game the Yellowjackets hit on 21-31 free throws while Rown only attempted 9 free throws (hitting on 6).
