Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjacket softball team went on the road to take on the leagues top two teams in a pair of double headers. The Jackets fell in the first game against St. Cloud 0-8 before mother nature shwoed up and forced the delay of game two. In the second series on Saturday, RCTC fell 11-3 and 11-0 to Anoka-Ramsey.
Against St. Cloud the Cyclones turned what looked like a pitchers duel early into an 8-0 five inning win late. After 2 innings the Jackets trailed only 1-0 and pitcher Hailey Stock appeared to be locked in. However 3 runs in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th, ended the game after 5 innings. The Jackets only hit in the contest came from Stock as she singled in the second inning and stole second before being stranded.
The rains that came prior to game one forced game two to be delayed due to light and may be made up at a later date if necessary.
In the second set of games Anoka Ramsey proved to be no more accomodating a host as they swept the Jackets in two 5 inning games. In game one Makenzie Swanson had 2 RBI and Katie Pearson added 1. Amber Chapel doubled for the Jackets, but it was not enough as Anoka got 2 homeruns, 2 triples and a double in handing RCTC the 11-3 setback.
In game two it was once again the Anoka offense that took control of the game, getting 2 more homeruns, a triple and two doubles. RCTC got hits from Mattie Hellerud and and Amber Chapel.
RCTC plays their last home double header on Monday, May 6th, gametimes are at 3 and 5. The contest is a critical series versus Ridgewater as both teams look to earn a spot in the Region tournament.
