Rochester, MN - The RCTC men's basketball team could not shake off a sluggish start and a poor shooting first half as they fell to visiting Western Tech at the Sports Center by the score of 52-59. The Jackets hit on only 19% (6-31) from the floor in the first half and trailed 15-32 at the break. In the second half RCTC shot 40% and outscored WTC 37-27. The Jackets cut the lead to 6 with only 2 minutes to go, but couldn't get any closer as WTC held on.
Karmoga Lero led the Jackets with 13 points while Naa'il Mahdi dropped in 11. Ben Opsahl had 8 points to go along with a team leading 10 rebounds. For the game RCTC hit on 30% from the floor, while WT hit at a 33% clip. In an otherwise close statistical game, WTC had 18 second chance points versus 8 for RCTC.
Both teams had 50 rebounds and hit on 4 3-pointers.
RCTC is right back at home on the performance court next Wednesday, February 13th, as they take on Anoka-Ramsey.
