RCTC went up against the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Anoka-Ramsey, in the NJCAA Region XIII championship game and Anoka prevailed beating RCTC 100 - 83.
"Anoka is really good, they're ranked No. 1 in country for a reason," RCTC coach Brian LaPlante said. "They're tough to defend. We didn't get off to a good start, burned a couple timeouts and we only shot 29 percecnt in the first half."
At half time, Anoka-Ramsey lead 46-32.
"We battled in the second half," LaPlante said. "They were up by 23-24 with 12-13 minutes to go, but we kept climbing back. Credit to our kids, they played hard and represented us very well this weekend."
Sophomore Akeem Smith led the Yellowjackets with 24 points followed by Michael Cornelious with 14, Zeke Thompson with 10, and Malik Jones with 11.
Akeem Smith and Malik Jone were both named to the All-Tournament team.
