RCTC Drops Opener to Pre-Season Favorite Northland College

Rochester, MN - The Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets couldn't get their offense on track in a season opening 34-6 loss to reigning MCAC Champions Northland Community College.  Northland rushed for 240 yards and put up 155 passing yards while holding the Jackets to 146 yards total offense for the contest.

The Jackets were lead in rushing by Sophomore Greg Henry who rushed for 128 yards on 10 attempts and a touchdown.  Henry's touchdown scamper was a 70 yard run in the 3rd quarter.  The game, which looked like a defensive showdown early turned in the 3rd quarter as Northland put up 20 points in the period.  With the score 11-0 at the half Northland had two touschdowns and a fieldgoal to stretch the lead to 31-6 at the end of 3.

In addition to Henry's 128 yards on the ground, the jackets got 122 All-purpose yards from Cazz Martin and 47 AP yards from Trey Johnson.  On the defensive side of the ball Bangalee Bamba had 10 tackles while Anthony Harper added 8.  Dylan Dumarce and Austin Keller each had 1.5 sacks on the game.

The Jackets are back on home turf to take on Dakota College-Bottineau this Saturday, September 8th with kickoff slated for 1:30pm.
