Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets and Western Tech Cavaliers played their 3rd and 4th games in less than a week, and even decided to plahy a little extra baseball in game one, of their evening double header. The Jackets (who swept the Cavaliers in LaCrosse early in the week) settled for a plit in the second set of games, drpping game one 8-6 in extra innings, before winning the nightcap 5-4.
Game one looked to be a pitching duel early as neither tem could do much against the opposing starter. The game was tied 2-2 after five with RCTC starter Mitch McMurl ging 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The score remained 2-2 until the 7th as Western erupted for 4 runs in the top of the frame only to have RCTC answer with 4 in their half of the inning. Western then added to in the top of the 8th to secure the win. Sanders Napoles went 2-3 with a homerun, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored in the loss. Matt Rhodes added a double and 2 RBI's in the game.
In game two, the Jackets got to Western early scoring 1 in the first and 2 in each of the 2nd and 3rd to take a 5-1 lead, before holding on for the 5-4 victory. Ben Strassman picked up the win going 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. while striking out 6. Parker Anderson picked up the save going the final 2 innings.
Brad Barkema had 2 doubles in going 2-3 with an RBI. Jorge Reyes picked up a double and was 2-3, and Luca Fredin was 1-2 with an RBI, and run scored.
