Rochester, MN - The Yellowjacket baseball team continued its winning ways on Saturday, sweeping the twinbill against Anoka-Ramsey 4-0 and 6-1. The wins give RCTC 5 straight and a 2-0 league record.
In game one it was Jeremiah Van De Steeg who stole the show pitching a complete game gem. The sophomore shut-out Anoka, allowing only 3 hits and walking 2 while striking out 9 to get the win. The Jackets gave Van De Steeg all the run support he would need in the bottom of the fifth inning as they pushed across four runs in the frame. Sanders Napoles was 1-2 with RBI, while Alec Byrne picked up an RBI on one hit. Todd Hunter was 2-3 in the game
In game two it was another pitching gem, as Ethan Hurn and Ben Strassman combined to only allow a run on 3 hits. The two also combined for 11 strikeouts. Hurn picked up the win, while Strassman earned the 2.2 inning save. The Jacket offense was lead by Zach Wolter annd Brad Barkema each with two hits and an RBI. Matt Rhodes had a double, and RBI and a run scored, and Ethan Hurn helped his own cause picking up a hit and 2 runs scored.
The Yellowjackets stay in league play playing four games against Western Tech this week. The first two as part of a Wednesday double header in Lacrosse, followed by to games at the Rochester Baseball Complex on Saturday (1:00pm and 3:00pm).
