RCTC moves to 6-2 in MCAC with split versus Riverland

Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets moved to 6-2 in the Southern Division of the MCAC with a split versus Riverland yesterday.  The Jackets, behind the arm of Jeremiah Van De Steeg won game one 11-0 in 5 innings, before falling 2-1 in the nightcap.

Van De Steeg and the Jacket offense were the story of game one, as the sophomore hurler gave up only 2 hits enroute to the shutout.  Ven De Steeg got all the runs he would need in the first inning as the Jackets pushed one run accross.  They would go on two score in each of the five total innings to earn the win.  RCTC had seven players with a hit in the game, including Zach Wolter who went 2-4 with an RBIO and a run scored. Brad Barkema, Jack Sperry, and Carlos Dominguez each picked up 2 RBI's each, while Sanders Napoles and Matt Rhodes each had doubles.  Dominguez's 2 RBI's came on his first collegiate homerun.

Game two, was the definition of a pitchers duel, as RCTC starter Ethan Hurn took the hard luck loss.  Hurn was excellent all game, giving up only 1 earned run on 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3.  The RCTC offense, was held in check throught, as they mnaged only 4 hits in the game. 

RCTC is back on the diamond heading to Worthington, MN to take on MN West on Wednesday May 1st.  The game, which is a reshceduled game from April 14th, will start at 2:00pm.
